Shakaib Shak) Rehman, MD, is a well-recognized expert in health care communication, informatics and hypertension. He has taught courses/workshops around the country, as well as in many countries outside the United States. Through out his career, Dr. Rehman has received numerous awards, including the Department of Veterans Affair Excellence in Medical Education Award, the David E. Rogers Teaching Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine twice) the Medical University of South Carolina Best Teacher Award, the American College of Physicians ACP) Young Physician Award, the ACP James A. McFarland Award in Excellence in Teaching and Humanism, the ACP Laureate Award, the ACP Arizona Chapter Leader of the Year Award and the Internist of the Year award — to name a few. In addition to those distinctions, he has served as the president of the Society of General Internal Medicine, Mountain West Region and vice president of the Academy on Communications in Healthcare ACH) He was also the conference chair for the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare ICCH) in 2007 and is currently the chair of the ACP Arizona Chapter’s Public Policy committee. He was a founding member of the ACP Council of Young Physicians CYP) and was also the chair of the ACP South Carolina Chapter of the CYP, as well as chair of the ACP South Carolina Chapter Health and Public Policy Committee.
