Member of the Graduate Faculty | Assistant Professor, Soil Health | Assistant Specialist, Environmental Science
Dr. Sanyal is a ‘Soil Health Specialist’ with Department of Environmental Science, joined University of Arizona in January 2022. His ‘soil health research and extension program’ focuses on developing suitable soil health indicators to understand fundamental soil biogeochemical processes in a desert agroecosystem. By conducting applied research and extension programs to meet stakeholder needs, his team disseminates significant research findings through statewide education and outreach programs, supporting farmers, ranchers, gardeners, and other stakeholders in improving soil health in their production systems. The goal of Sanyal’s program is to devise an extension-based decision-support system towards climate-smart, sustainable agricultural production systems following soil health principles in the Southwestern United States, especially in Arizona.
