Dr. Jo is an assistant professor in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, 1999, 2001) and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2013) Prior to starting his Ph.D. study, he has worked as a professional bridge engineer in the Seoyeong Engineering Co. Ltd. Korea in 2001~2007. He teaches the reinforced concrete structure design CE335 CE437/537) and advanced structural dynamics EM634) His research interests are in the development of the next-generation of smart technologies for innovating the way our civil systems are monitored, protected, and rehabilitated; which include, but not limited to, structural health monitoring, wireless smart sensor networks, bio-inspired sensing technologies, computer vision-base sensing, structural damage identification, advanced functional materials, seismic retrofit and rehabilitation, earthquake/Wind/Bridge engineering, energy harvesting, full-scale dynamic testing.
