Liz Collins received her BA in Philosophy in 2009 from the University of Arizona, her Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs in 2013 from The University of Southern California and is currently working on her Doctor of Philosophy, Higher Education at the University of Arizona. According to one of her colleagues, Liz combines a warm, supportive, interpersonal style with a keen eye for efficiency in providing high quality academic advising to FSHD pre-majors, majors, and minors. Another colleague indicated that throughout her years in the advising profession, Liz exemplifies the multitude of characteristics that make an all-around effective, supportive, caring and knowledgeable academic advisor, colleague, and advocate. She takes a student-centric approach with decision-making, relationshibuilding, and in her professional advising role. Ms. Collins is also a leader on campus as a University Professional Advising Council UPAC) co-chair. She is meticulous and quality-driven with her students and with her profession. As a lifelong learner, Liz has built collaborations which have been instrumental to her advising philosophy and to her colleagues across campus, within the department and college. Liz is also gaining national visibility and recognition by way of presentations to the National Academic Advising Association NACADA) conference and ongoing research aimed to improve advisor-student communication.
