Latinx studies is a multidisciplinary field of research that focuses on the experiences, cultures, histories, and identities of Latinx people in the United States and in other parts of the Americas. Latinx is a gender-neutral term used to describe individuals of Latin American descent, including those who identify as Latino, Latina, Latin@, or Hispanic. Research in Latinx studies often examines issues such as immigration, race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, politics, art and literature, and social justice. Scholars in this field draw on disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, history, literature, and cultural studies to explore the diverse and complex experiences of Latinx communities.
