Dr. Samuel Peffers is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering. He is the Director of Engineering Programs for the University’s distance campus in Yuma, AZ. Dr. Peffers teaches courses in the Sophomore Colloquium, Embedded Computer Systems, and Senior Capstone Design. He mentors students in the Internshifor Academic Credit course, and supervises students in the Directed Research course. He also serves as Faculty Advisor to Engineering students on the Yuma campus, and is a member of the Department’s Undergraduate Studies Committee. Dr. Peffers conducts extensive outreach to both grow Engineering student enrollment and to build relationships with regional Engineering employers to continue providing internship, project, and employment opportunities for students and graduates. His professional experience includes U.S. Federal Government service, Engineering support services contracting, management consulting, and higher education teaching and administration. His academic background and research focus is in Human Factors Engineering, with a particular focus on performance assessment, industrial process control systems, and human component optimization.
