Dr. Kimberly Jones is Vice Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Humanities and a Professor of East Asian Studies. A sociolinguist who specializes in second language acquisition and teaching and in Japanese sociolinguistics, she is particularly interested in how the analysis of naturally occurring talk can inform language pedagogy, and in children’s language acquisition, attrition, and code-switching. For the last 10 years, she has been a consultant for both College Board and Educational Testing Service, working on curriculum and test development for the Advanced Placement Japanese program.
