I am a South Carolina Native who was born and raised in Columbia, SC. I am proud child of 2 South Korean immigrants, with 2 siblings. I attending Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC, followed by obtaining my B.S. in Neuroscience at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. From there, I attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC for medical school where I nourished my lifelong love for the brain and the neurosciences. I was thrilled to be accepted to my first choice for neurology residency, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. I had wonderful mentors who helped me thrive in the field of neurology. I pursued fellowships in sleep medicine and stroke/vascular neurology at the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic (Scottsdale) and am now lucky to have found a position that allows me to pusue both passions in my practice. I serve on both the stroke team and the sleep center team at Banner University Medical Center. I am the medical director of the sleep center. Additionally, I am a clinical assistant professor at the U of A SOM. I spent about 40% on the stroke inpatient service, 40% in my sleep practice (outpatient clinic and reading sleep studies) and 20% for my administration and education/research initiatives. Outside of work, I am surrounded by my loving family -- my husband (an Banner associated neurosurgeon) and my 2 children (aged 6 and 1).
