Dr. Bender has extensive experience as a veterinary clinical pathologist, faculty member, faculty developer, and educational researcher. She brings thirty-one years as a practicing faculty clinical pathologist and twenty-two years of experience conducting collaborative educational research leading multidisciplinary teams of educators and software developers with a shared vision and a passion for education. Dr. Bender led the research groups that designed, developed, and implemented an open-source cognitive tool, ThinkSpace, and its predecessors, used in 25 veterinary schools in the US, Canada, Australia, South America, and Europe. ThinkSpace is used widely to support the Unviersity of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine’s innovative curriculum and disciplines including dietetics, food science, animal science, human development, geology, education, physics, English, world languages, statistics, planning, journalism, and engineering.
