Barrett G. Potter, Jr. is a professor and associate department head of materials science and engineering and a professor of optical sciences at the University of Arizona. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Arizona, Potter was a principal member of the technical staff and later served as the technical manager for the Chemical Synthesis and Nanomaterials Department in the Materials and Process Sciences Center at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM. Potter's research has addressed a broad range of electronic and optical materials applications and phenomena including optically driven molecular assembly and material processing, 3D printing process monitoring and control, nanocomposite optoelectronic materials, fiber and planar-waveguide materials and devices, photovoltaic performance, PV performance modeling and prediction, and energy materials and systems aging and reliability.
